Túra
A popular ski tour on the Dachstein massif. The route is technically relatively easy, but is one of the longer tours and requires a certain degree of orientation. The descent leads over the Hallstätter Glacier, past the Simonyhütte to the Gjaidalm. From there, the ascent begins around the Gjaidsteinstock back to the Schladming Glacier. A wonderful day tour.
Popis trasy

Up to the Gjaidalm, the route follows the classic Dachstein crossing. From the Dachstein mountain station, a short descent to below the Dirndl on the groomed and marked trail, followed by a short ascent towards the Seethaler Hütte. At the marked turn-off towards Simonyhütte, the easy descent begins via the groomed and marked trail along the western edge of the Hallstättergletscher to Simonyhütte (refreshments available). From there, continue along the marked and groomed trail with short ascents to the Gjaidalm (refreshments available).

The ascent begins here. Pass the valley station of the Krippenstein gondola (section 3) on the Oberfeld and follow the pole markings in a south-easterly direction. On the right are the Niedere and Hohe Rumpler and the Moderstein. The route turns south through hilly terrain towards the Schladming Glacier past the Niedere Gjaidstein to the former valley station of the Mitterstein chairlift (disused). From here, stay on the groomed trail across the glacier back to the starting point at the mountain station.

Variants
There are two interesting variants to this route. On the one hand, you can turn off via the Feisterscharte towards the Guttenberghaus (not open in winter), or ascend via the Landfriedtal to the Gruberscharte. Both variants descend via south-facing slopes to Ramsau (Gasthof Feisterer, refreshments available).

All these variants are only partially marked and lead through the open ski area; please make sure you have the appropriate safety equipment with you. They require a high level of skiing ability, serious tour planning, avalanche knowledge and very good local knowledge. We recommend that you are accompanied by local mountain and ski guides.

Clothing and protective equipment
Make sure you are prepared for rapid changes in the weather and increased UV exposure in high alpine terrain. A wind and water-repellent jacket, hood and moisture-resistant gloves are essential. Sun protection (eyes, skin and lips) is also very important.

Safety equipment
A modern avalanche transceiver, a metal avalanche shovel and a probe are part of the basic equipment for every ski tour and freeride descent that takes you off the secured slopes and into the open ski area. This triumvirate of avalanche transceiver/shovel/probe not only helps you to be found quickly in the event of an avalanche burial, but above all to be able to help any companions or other buried victims quickly.

The smartphone is with you anyway. We generally recommend installing a GPS app and familiarizing yourself with how to use it. Network coverage is generally good on the Dachstein. A small first aid kit with a multitool should also always be carried.

On many tours, it is advisable to carry a glacier harness and via ferrata set, crampons, ice axe and a short rope so that you can react quickly to snow conditions. The exact equipment for each tour can be found in the individual route descriptions.
