Mitterberg-Sankt Martin

The Mitterberg, so to speak, is the namesake of the town was formed, presumably from 20.000-30.000 years after the end of the second ice age. As the ice retreated further and further over time, there remained huge masses of rock and formed those "dirt pile", which constitutes a part of the mountain Mitter.

The other part of Mitterberg is an offshoot of Kulms like this from the easily weathered and therefore fertile green shale.

About the beginning of colonization is not exactly known, but it was probably along the ancient mule track from the along the Salza Aussee Gröbmingbach, led by the center stone and over the hill to the Sölkpass Murtal.
