Bike & Hike Dachsteinblick - Gindlhorn
Tour description
The hike starts directly from the inn and leads up to the Gindlhorn. The short but scenic ascent is rewarded with impressive panoramic views. The return follows the same route back.
The return by bike follows the Spechtensee Loop via Klachau and Untergrimming. From there, leave the signposted route and continue via Trautenfels back to Irdning.
Important note:
Cycling is only permitted during the following times:
- 15 May – 31 August: 08:00 – 18:00
- 1 – 30 September: 08:00 – 17:00

The tour

Start in the center of Irdning and first turn right onto Aigner Straße, riding through the village. At the end of the village, switch to the cycle path and follow it to Schlattham. There, turn left towards Sallaberg/Kulm and ride around the Kulm with a gentle climb and short descents.
Then follow the road to the Enns and turn right onto the Enns Cycle Path. Follow it towards Wörschach until you reach the main road. Turn left and continue via Maitschern to Wörschach.
From Wörschach, follow the signs of the Spechtensee Loop (315). Via the Aicherlsteinweg, the route climbs steadily to Wörschachwald – passing the Spechtensee – up to Gasthof Dachsteinblick.
From Gasthof Dachsteinblick, start the hike directly towards the Gindlhorn. The trail climbs steadily to the summit and offers great views of the Enns Valley and the surrounding mountains. Return along the same route to the inn.
For the return ride, continue following the Spechtensee Loop (315) via Klachau to Untergrimming. There, leave the signposted route and ride via Trautenfels back to Irdning.
A free parking area is located directly opposite the starting point at the tourism office.

The next trainstation is far away 5 kilometres.
Weather conditions in the mountains can change quickly. Thunderstorms, wind, fog and sudden temperature drops are serious hazards. Plan your tour realistically and don’t overestimate your abilities.
In case of thunderstorms: Avoid summits, ridgelines and isolated trees.

Recommended equipment:
Helmet, suitable bike and hiking clothing, sturdy shoes, sufficient water.
Always lock your bike.
There are E-bike charging stations along the route (see map/elevation profile) – bring your charger.
For via ferrata routes: Via ferrata set, helmet, appropriate footwear.

- Additional stops: Burgruine Wolkenstein ruins or Wörschachklamm
