Benedictine Admont Abbey is one of the oldes existing monasteries in Styria and home to a cultural treasure of global significance, namely the world´s biggest abbey library! For several years, the enormous libray hall has also been accompanied by a large museum, featuring smaller museums for natural- and art history as well as contemporary art. Since 2017, a Gothic Museum has added even greater variety. The library and museum of Admont Abbey represent a dialogue between tradition and innovation.

Benedictine Admont Abbey – Library & Museum
Free admission to the world's largest monastery library & the museum of the Benedictine Abbey of Admont
Guided tours for an extra charge. The library can also be visited without a guided tour. Audio guides available at the museum ticket office: € 4.00 per person.
Animals are not allowed in the museum.
The Benedictine Abbey of Admont is the oldest existing monastery in Styria
and is home to a world-class cultural asset, namely the world's largest monastery library! The library hall houses around 70,000 volumes. The monastery's entire book collection comprises around 200,000 volumes. For some years now, the huge library hall has been complemented by a large museum with a Natural History Museum, an Art History Museum, a Museum of Contemporary Art and the Gothic Museum - Mayer Collection. The library and museum of Admont Abbey are characterised by a dialogue between tradition and innovation.
