Routebeschrijving
From the hiking trail head at the Pichl leisure lake, go through the underpass at Pichl train station and up to the Pichlmayrgut hotel. Right through the hotel complex and past the stables, you cross over to Vorbergstrasse to connect to path #615. You now walk uphill along the Pichlbach stream, crossing Vorbergstrasse once. At the crossroads with Panoramaweg 100, follow this westwards to the 4th bend of Vorbergstrasse and hike downhill to the 3rd bend. Here you turn off onto the field path that takes you south to the Aberg. The path then leads into the forest and down the southern slope of the Aberg. Here you come across another field path that takes you westwards over 2 bends down to Grubweg. You follow this downhill to the Pichl elementary school. From there you hike slightly uphill along the dirt road and a beautiful footpath to the Hotel Pichlmayrgut and from there on the familiar path back to the starting point.

Equipment
Changes in weather patterns, quick falls in temperature, thunderstorms, wind, fog and snow are some of the dangers that can be encountered on a hiking tour. Hosts of alpine huts and mountain refuges have a lot of experience in the mountains and can give good advice about weather and the trails. Poor equipment, overestimation of one's own capabilities, carelessness, poor personal constitution and/or wrong judgement can lead to critical situations. In case of thunderstorms: avoid summits, ridges and steel ropes.
GPS data and orienteering
Available GPS data - just like hiking maps - is only a guidance for orientation and can never depict a trail exactly with all its details. Especially at dangerous spots it is essential to judge on site how to proceed.
In an emergency please call:
- 140 - for Alpine emergencies (all over Austria)
- 112 - European GSM emergency number
Good walking shoes and custom-fit Nordic Walking poles are the standard equipment. We also recommend a belt for carrying a drinking bottle.
